Overview of Lead 2030 Challenge for SDG
Lead 2030 Challenges for SDG 6 reflect that Access to clean and safe water and hygiene is a global human right and essential for public health and economic prosperity. So far, achieving access to clean water is off-track, and over 2.2 billion worldwide still lack of safe water and sanitation, and the majority of the population face a huge scarcity for at least part of the year.
Additionally, over 3.5 billion people lack access to managed hygiene while others nearly 419 million still involving open defecation. According to UNICEF report, more half schools in across the world are still lack handwashing facilities particular in underserved community. These limitation can be further exacerbated the situation and lead a widespread disease including diarrhea, pneumonia and this is final can cause death for young people under the age of five.
In order to meet SDG 6 target in 2030 we require to maximize our commitment and contribution towards SDG 6 by working together local community, NGOs and governments and social enterprises across the world to foster access to clean water and wash facilities
Through Reckitt’s partnership with Water.org, over 2.4 million people now have access to clean water or sanitation in their homes. So that Reckitt is proud to have supported the lead2030 SDG 6 challenges since 2019 and continuing to build the success in 2025 throughout supporting innovations that create impact to access clean water and wash facilities.
This challenge is not limited to providing the basic equitable access to water and sanitation but the challenges also creating a long lasting impact in the area of sustainable ecosystem that will continuous so many years.
Whilst Reckitt support youth-led solution that advance wash sector and access to clean water and sanitation in underserved community in order to empower young change makers tackling critical health and hygiene gaps.
Challenge Criteria
To be eligible the challenges you must be under the age of 30 and leading a registered NGO or organization that has a track record of impact and offer scalable solution in accessing clean water and wash. The project should focus and meet the following criteria:
- Aligned SDG6 indicators
- Youth led- organization founded a person between the age of 18-30
- Clear implementation and scale up plan and well identify key beneficiaries and stakeholders
- Solution is readily available and can be piloted or implemented
- Solution must have social impact such as educational outcome and promoting health
- Must be able to achieve efficiency and to survive independently through the resources they generate and donations they attract.
Prize
The winning solution will award and receive over $50,000 grant, and one year of mentorship from Reckitt to help scale and fostering the project impact. Winners will also gain global exposure through one young world and sponsorship to attend one young world summit in 2025

Shortlisted candidate will announced and invited to summit round 2 application in
28 May 2025: Shortlisted candidates confirmed and invited to submit Round 2 application.
6 June: Round 2 applications will close 6 June 2025
16 – 19 June 2025 Finalist interview will be conduct
