Joint Japan/World Bank Graduate Scholarship Program

Overview
Joint Japan/World Bank scholarship program is a cooperative Scholarship initiative hosted by world Bank and japan, which is open citizens from the developing countries who has a professional relevance experience and had a previous track record of contributing the development of their nations, the program is intended to apply for those want to study a master’s degree program focused on development field. The program is now available in 41 participant master’s programs and 24 universities in Europe, Africa, and the U.S, as well as Oceania and Japan.
The scholarship program is open in the area of development, such as policy management, public policy, tax, infrastructure management, and economic policy in key areas of development, including economic policy management, tax policy, and infrastructure management.
Therefore, if you are not admitted to one of the above 41 participating master’s programs, you are still not applicable to submit or apply for the scholarship program in 2025. To participate the academic calendar of the JJ/WBGSP the application process is following two main rounds
After successfully completed the program, each scholar must have to return their home countries to use their new knowledge and skills acquired the scholarship and to contribute the development of their countries including social and economic development
To accommodate the academic calendar of JJ/WBGSP Participating Programs, the application process is organized in two rounds:
- Application window 1: this was open January 13 to February 28, 2025
- Application Window 2: This was open march 25 to May, 2025 at 12:00 noon EST
Scholarship Benefit
The japan and World Bank scholarship will allow providing the following benefits:
- Economy class: between your home country and host university
- Travel allowance for each trip and they will receive$600
- Tuition fee will cover under the graduate program and the other cost such as insurance, medical needs.
- Monthly Subsistence: during campus living expenses will be provided including accommodation, food and books
Scholarship Will Not Cover
- Visa related cost
- Expenses related bring family members
- Extra-curricular activities or trainings
- Courses that do not meet the credit required by graduate degree
- Extra-curricular courses or training;
- Courses that do not meet the minimum credits required to earn the graduate degree
- Language trainings
- Travel cost during study program
- All expenses related materials, field trips, seminars or internships
- Personal computers
Eligibility Criteria
To be eligible the scholarship program you meet the following requirements, please carefully read before you submit your application, because of it is strictly adhered the below and no more exceptions
- Candidate must from world bank members country on this list of countries
- Not hold dual citizenship of developed countries
- Be in well-being
- Must have bachelor degree before application close
- Be involved in development related work whether full time positions at the period of submitting your application and have a least 3 years of employment since earning bachelor degree
- Be admitted unconditional(Except for funding) for the upcoming academic year
- The letter of admission must be uploaded before submitting the scholarship application.
- Not an executive Director, his/her alternate and staff of any type of appointment of the world bank groups or a close relate
- Individuals who have previously been offered a JJ/WBGSP scholarship but declined it, or have previously received a JJ/WBGSP scholarship but did not graduate, are not eligible to apply again.

Selection Process
The japan and World Bank uses the following steps to carefully review eligible scholarship application the developing countries in order to pick up the highest potential candidate. A professional and qualified independent committee of review each eligible application and give an score the application up to 1 to 10 considering by four main area and the cohesion of the degree Program:
- Quality of professional experience
- Professional recommendation
- Willing’s and commitment to your home country
- Quality of education background
The JJ/WBGSP Secretariat will select the finalists by taking into the consideration the following criteria :
- Availability of widespread of geographical awards
- Availability of cross gender distribution
- Unusual circumstances or hardship during evaluating employment experience
