IHE Delft Water and Development: MENA, Sahel and Horn of Africa Scholarship programme

About the Scholarship:
The IHE Delft water and development partnership programme, supported by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Dutch is working together to offer a scholarship opportunity for a limited number of scholarships in the framework of capacity strengthening and fostering a network of water professionals in specific regions and nations of the programme working currently.
The scholarship programme is divided two types and they are full funded and partial. Therefore, the full scholarship type includes all the related scholarship programme in water and sustainable development, and scholarship will cover: Tuition fee, insurance, international travel and allowance of total EURO 1,220 per month for the cost of living and accommodation is compete.

Candidates who will meet the scholarship eligibility and selection criteria and who have partial funding from other source, still you may also apply for the remaining funds to complement their scholarship fess.
On the other side, the scholarship requires who win the scholarship to conduct MSC research in their home country in association with one of the projects supported by the programme in a specific region.
Moreover, the peers will need to actively participate and contribute to the seminars hosted by the learning network of the programme. This is intended to further enhance the capacity and knowledge in the regions, and nurture the network in the water sector and develop the focus area in the country programme.
Who Is Eligible to Apply
The scholarship programme is only accept the application from the specific regions from the following countries are eligible to apply
Horn of Africa: Ethiopia, Kenya, Somalia, South Sudan, Sudan and Uganda
Sahel: Burkina Faso, Mali, Niger and Nigeria
Middle East: Egypt, Iraq, Jordan, Palestine and Yemen
Eligibility Criteria
To be Eligible for scholarship program you must meet the following list of criteria, please carefully read and check out you are hit the requirement in order to accept your application
- Living and working one of the eligible countries
- Academic admission to MSc programme in water
- Accept and agree to conduct research programme in their origin countries where the programme is implementing a project
- Actively participate all seminars organized by the learning network
- Confirmation to return home country of origin or other priority country of programme
- Employer statement: This is one of the two letter of recommendation that the programme request to upload as a part of your applications and the recommendation should meet the following requirements:
- Should be official letter head
- Should be dated and signed
- Clarify and explain how the obtained knowledge and skills you gain the program will contribute the activates and performance of the organization
- Confirm that the applicant will return to the organization after completing the scholarship
- Mention and indicate if any projects funded by the water and development partnership programme is involved in your organization
Selection Criteria
Selection criteria based on the following area and as a candidate focus on your attention in theses area as they are heart of application
- Strong motivation( you have to answer 5 motivation questions in your application
- Given strong priority female candidate
- Good academic background
- Preference to candidate who have relevance work experience
Application Procedure
Please note: you do not have a separate application form to apply for this scholarship.
If you are from eligible nations you will automatically considered for the scholarship after you are applied for admission and received your academic admission letter.

The overall deadline for this scholarship is 1st June 2025
And the result of scholarship will be announced on 1st July 2025
