Introduction

Applications for the DAAD EPOS Scholarship (Development-Related Postgraduate Courses) are currently being accepted by the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD). Talented professionals from emerging and recently industrialized nations who want to study for a master’s or doctoral degree in Germany are supported by this scholarship. The Main objective of this scholarship is to give change makers  all necessary knowledge, skills   and abilities they need to promote sustainable development after they come back their home country.

Objective of the DAAD EPOS Programme

The goal of the EPOS scholarship program is to develop the next generation of Global South leaders. It is anticipated that these people will return to their home nations as change agents, improving governance, infrastructure, health, and education while also making the globe a better, more just place.

Eligibility

Candidates need to fulfill the following requirements:
• Have at least two years of work experience after graduating.
• Be a national of a developing or recently industrialized nation listed by DAAD.

• Have completed at least four years of coursework toward a bachelor’s degree, with a high academic record (top third of the class).
• Have finished their most recent degree within the last six years.
• At the time of application, you must not have lived in Germany for no more than 15 months.

What Can Be Funded?

The scholarship covers:

  • Full-time Master’s or Doctoral study in Germany from a list of postgraduate courses connected to development that has been formally recognized;
  • Depending on the program chosen, the scholarship can last anywhere from 12 to 42 months.

Full funding for DAAD EPOS includes:

  • • A monthly salary of €1,300 for PhDs or €992 for master’s degrees
  • • Personal liability, health, and accident insurance
  • • Allowance for travel to and from Germany
  • • Extra advantages:
  • Rent subsidy each month; dependents’ family allowance

Language Requirements

Valid IELTS or TOEFL results are required for programs taught in English; institutional TOEFL scores are not accepted.
For programs taught in German, applicants must have at least a B1 level of German and have passed TestDaF 4 or DSH 2 prior to the program’s start. Included is a six-month preparatory German language course.

Application Procedure

You must follow the particular requirements of the chosen course and apply directly to it, not DAAD. A single motivation letter outlining the priorities is all that is required of a candidate, who may apply to up to three courses.
