To address the issue organization employed a variety of approaches to further strengthen the mission through community mobilization, policy dialogue, advocacy, and education. The organization works to advance gender equity and build a safe environment. The organization’s approach places frontline workers and the community as they are the center of solutions. 

If you are a seasonal and passionate about gender equity and committed the gender gender-based violence? Women ACT is looking for 10 dynamic and driven researchers to conduct gender equity-focused research on a call basis. This research opportunity offers a casual basis and flexibility to run a project-based role and contribute ongoing work that deeply addresses some of the pressing challenges impacting marginalized women and the underserved community in Canada.   

About the Research Pool

The Women Act is currently involved in building a pool of various researchers within industry experts to support the organization’s portfolio of projects. Therefore, this research position is based on casual and varies in timelines based on needs and making it ideal for researchers in a flexible and purpose-driven environment. Selected researchers will be contracted to undertake various initiatives and add a great contribution towards community-based study and advocacy through shaping public policy and systematic change.

Researchers Duties

Selected researchers in the pool system will conduct and engage in a variety of activities, including:

  • Conduct desk review material analysis and creating bibliographies
  • Facilitating community research-based tasks, including FGD, Semi-structured interviews, by collaboration  with service providers and survivors
  • Produce a knowledge output such as reports, briefs and infographics
  •  Supporting grant applications and literature review
  • Contributing and actively contributing disseminations sessions and knowledge mobilization
  • Participation in workshops, presentations, and stakeholder engagements

After doing the above investigation, the researcher will discover whether violence existing in the workplace, housing insecurity and economic injustice. Your work will contribute and helping how policies makers and service providers are developed and delivered.

Qualifications Required

To drive in this researcher’s pool, you will have the required qualification:

  • A post-secondary degree and it must align the field of study, and 1-2 years of research experience
  • Deep knowledge and understanding  of gender equity and intersectionality, and GBV
  • A strong skills in the area of quantitative and qualitative research method
  • Excellent ability to interpret data from finding to actionable outcome
  • Experience working remotely and diverse and equity seeking communities
  • Technical proficiency in Microsoft Office, presentation tools, and familiarity with data collection and analysis software is also important.
