About the Scholarship:
MasterCard Foundation at University of Gondar in Ethiopia is jointly hosting a graduate scholarship program to award 160 graduate scholarships for a period of eight years, starting from 20the 18.2019 academic year. The purpose of the scholarship is to help and support academically talented students from a number of countries in East African nations, including Somalia, Ethiopia, Kenya, Djibouti, and South Sudan.
The Scholarship program through MasterCard Foundation is intended to help scholars who want to acquire transformational and leadership skills and demonstrate high professional and scholarly competence in order to influence and contribute to socioeconomic development trends at the global level, regional, and local contexts. The program is strongly avail with excellent academic and nonacademic support to MasterCard Foundation scholars during their stay at Gondar University.
Eligibility Criteria
To be eligible for the MasterCard scholarship graduate program, you must meet one of the following criteria in order to accept your scholarship application:
Students from academically talented and disadvantaged backgrounds based on the criteria of disability, socioeconomic status, and who are not currently employed and are not able to cover their study expenses will be the primary eligible for this fully funded scholarship. Otherwise, you have to meet the criteria requirements.
- Gained a Bachelor degree in a discipline relevant to their proposed graduate program and from recognized University
- Earned a minimum cumulative grade point average of 2.7 on a 4. Scale
- Be one of the citizens resident in the five countries allowed to apply for the scholarship
- Youth from disability and disadvantage background
- Women applicants with economic hardship to finance university education
- Earned a pass mark on the graduate admission test from the ministry of Education in Ethiopia
- If you are currently enrolled in any graduate program at the time of submission cannot apply for the MasterCard scholarship award

Scholarship Cover
The scholarship will cover all cost of tuition, accommodation, stipend and other additional expenses based on the students’ needs such as books, materials, campus facilities, It also the scholarship will cover academic, financial and social support to help awards develop in order to have the capacity to contribute their communities and experiential activities
The Scholarship Will Not Cover:
- Personal travel
- Family allowances
- Treatments for advanced medical or chronic conditions
